Privacy Policy — Elar Driver
1. Who this app is for
Elar Driver is a workforce app for professional truck drivers who are provisioned by a trucking/dispatch company (“your company”) that uses the Elar Logistics platform. You sign in with a company code, a driver number, and a password issued to you by your company. The app is not intended for the general public or for anyone under 18, and it is not directed to children.
2. What we collect and why
We collect only what the app needs to do its job — dispatch coordination between you and your company. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising. There are no third-party analytics, ad, or tracking SDKs in the app.
Precise location, including in the background
So your company’s dispatchers can see where you are while you are working an assigned load.
Collected via GPS only while you have location sharing switched on. On Android a persistent notification is shown the whole time sharing is active; on iOS the system shows its background-location indicator. This is your phone’s location, not the truck’s.
Account identity — driver number, name, company code
To sign you in and associate your activity with your company.
Provisioned by your company, not created by you.
Work activity — stop actions (arrived/departed/ETA), duty status, schedule
To report load progress to your company.
Messages with your dispatcher
To let you and your dispatcher communicate about a load.
Documents and photos you attach to a case
To submit paperwork/proof for a load.
Only files you choose to upload.
Device identifier (an app-generated ID) and app/OS version
Session security and support diagnostics.
Not linked to advertising identifiers.
We do not collect contacts, browsing history, or microphone audio, and we do not access photos beyond the ones you explicitly attach to a case.
3. Location, specifically
- Location sharing exists so your company can coordinate active loads. On Android it runs as a foreground service with an always-visible notification while active; on iOS it uses the location background mode.
- Background location (“Allow all the time” on Android, “Always” on iOS) lets sharing continue when the app is not on screen during your responsibility for a load.
- Sharing survives a phone restart. If your phone restarts while sharing is on, the app resumes sharing after the restart (Android restarts the tracking service on boot; iOS relaunches the app on significant location changes). Turn sharing off in the app if you do not want this.
- You can stop sharing at any time from within the app, and you can revoke the location permission in your phone’s Settings. Stopping sharing stops new location collection.
4. Who we share it with
- Your company. The data above is made available to the trucking/dispatch company that provisioned your account and its authorized dispatchers. That is the core function of the app.
- Service providers that host the platform on our behalf (e.g., cloud hosting), bound to protect the data and use it only to provide the service.
- Legal. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect rights, safety, or the integrity of the service.
We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
5. How it is protected and stored
- All network traffic uses HTTPS/TLS; the app does not permit cleartext.
- On the device, session tokens are protected by the Android Keystore or the iOS Keychain, and locally queued content is encrypted at rest.
- The Android app disables cloud backup of its data, and the iOS app keeps its session in the Keychain, so your session does not ride a backup to another device.
6. Retention and deletion
- Location and work data are retained by your company for as long as needed for their operations and legal obligations.
- Signing out of the app purges the app’s local data on that device.
- To request deletion of your data, contact your company (the dispatcher/administrator who provisioned your account) or us at info@elarbridge.com. Because accounts are created and controlled by your company, deletion and correction requests are handled together with them.
7. Your choices
- Turn location sharing on/off in the app; manage the location permission in your phone’s Settings.
- Manage notification permissions in your phone’s Settings (note: on Android the tracking notification is required while a foreground location service runs).
- Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information; contact us or your company to exercise them.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy; we will change the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify your company. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
